Who Am I and Why You Should Care?
I’m just an average guy
I won’t pretend, at this moment in time, we are certainly exploring the extremes. The way we do everything is being challenged and questioned; ordinarily, I am right there. This is very different with so much at stake. That said, I am excited about the relaunch of this blog. So much to talk about in the coming months!
My Parents
Quick background on me. I am the first-born son of two military parents. My father was a career United States Marine Corps officer. He enlisted right out of high school; did the usual boot camp thing, went to fight the Korean Conflict, became a drill sergeant, and got out. The G.I. Bill put him through the USC School of Architecture. After graduation, he practiced for a few years while remaining with the USMC as a reserve. He later returned to duty as a commissioned officer.
My mother spent 12 years in the Navy. She played basketball on a Navy traveling team when the rules for women did not allow all the players on a team to travel beyond half-court. As a WAVE she was rather impetuous. She spent her free time talking pilots into flying her to various places around the country. Her actual assignment in the Navy was as an Air Traffic Controller.
A Little About Me
So, as a military brat, we traveled all over the U.S. When people ask me where I am from, I always hesitate, because I am from many places. I respond by simply saying, I was born in Los Angeles and seems to satisfy most. We went from California to Ohio to North Carolina to Virginia back to California.
I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. I was told during my study of Mathematics that “you can do anything you want with that”. So, I did. I sold beer for Budweiser; I taught middle school in the LAUSD (for 1 semester). I was a substitute teacher; I was a contract teacher, and I worked for a large grocery store chain.
What You Should Expect to Find
The blog posts you will see vacillate between being very serious and well thought out to being simple OMG neck jerk reactions to events based purely on emotion. I will make no apology for my remarks as I strive to be candid and transparent. I have many interests (see above regarding being a Math major) and this blog allows me to share my story with the sincere desire to help you in your life journey. Take my tales on your terms. Accept the pieces that ring in your ear and toss as trash the pieces that make you ill.
Warmest Regards,
William G. Adamaitis, II
