My San Clemente – Come See!

Why San Clemente?

I graduated from San Clemente High School in June of 1976, The Bicentennial Class. My father was in the Marine Corps and he was transferred from Quantico, Virginia to Camp Pendleton, California in June of 1974. My parents had the house in San Clemente until my father was transferred to Okinawa, Japan in 1982. My parents sold the house, I found an apartment, and I had to put on my big-boy pants. No more living at the beach.

These four videos are created from old photographs I have laying around the house and new photographs I have trapped on my computer. Initially, I thought I would make a single video from the collection of San Clemente photos and iPhone videos. But, as I loaded the photos, turns out I have 1000’s of photos, so I made four different videos…

  • My San Clemente – The Town
  • My San Clemente – The Beaches
  • My San Clemente – The Pier
  • Not My San Clemente – Dana Point Harbor and Doheny

I had no intention of making a 35 minute documentary so out of respect for your time, I divided the videos into somewhat smaller chunks.

My San Clemente – The Town

So, the first video is images of around town. I really thought I had many more “town” shots, but seems we spend more time along the beaches of San Clemente, so, you know.

My San Clemente – The Beaches

This video starts at North Beach at the intersection of Coast Highway and Avenida Pico. The videos walks you down the footpath along the railroad tracks to the pier and then down to San Clemente State Beach.

My San Clemente – The Pier

Again, for this video it turned out I had way too many pictures of the San Clemente Pier and the surrounding areas to include in the other videos. This video has pictures of some spectacular sunsets and our favorite restaurant, The Fisherman.

Not My San Clemente – Dana Point Harbor and Doheny State Beach

Finally, I finish up with pictures of the Dana Point Marina and Doheny State Beach. When we come to the coast we stay in the Marina at The Dana Point Marina Inn. The hotel is the only hotel that sits in the marina and one cannot beat the location. Doheny is walking distance away. Restaurants, coffee, and ice cream are also an easy walk away, just the perfect location.

Thank you…

I really hope you enjoy(ed) these videos. If have any questions or you would like to know more, please leave a comment. I do not pretend to be an expert on the area, but I do know some things!

I am a sixty-year-old wild eyed wanderer who has spent his entire life searching for that “one thing” as his life’s work only to realize that maybe there is no “one thing”. I have been a beer salesman, a high school math teacher, an insurance adjuster, a government service worker, and a grocery store clerk.

I have lived on both coasts and traveled frequently between the two and I am anxious to not only share my experiences with you, but to hear all about your experiences. Together we will make each other better!
