My Los Angeles: A Brief Video Tour

My father passed away 12 years ago. Two years ago my mother passed, one month short of her 101st birthday. With her passing my brother and I were instantly given the responsibility of “settling her estate”. Anyone who has ever gone through this process knows the challenges of dealing with the legal, financial, logistical, and family demands. But, this is not a How-To article; this is a video about Los Angeles.

Part of the settling process was going through years of memoribilia. We found photo albums and 8mm movies. We found tchotchkes from way back that stirred nice memories; pieces we thought were long gone. So, all of this trip down memory lane had me feeling a bit nostalgic…

…and I wanted a way to share some of my early life in Los Angeles. That escalated into thinking maybe it would be cool to contrast the early years as a kid in 1960’s Los Angeles with the later years as an adult in 2017-2024 Los Angeles. So, I decided to do a short video to show some of my early memories of Los Angeles and couple those images to the later Los Angeles I shared with my wife.

We love to take road trips, but both of us are the type that are always in a hurry to get to the “next place”, wherever that may be. We rarely stop to really dive into any single place. We snap some pictures of cool stuff from the car and carry on.

So, the video I have linked is a hodge-podge of photos of photos, photos of memoribilia, photos from a moving car, and photos from places we have actually gotten out of the car to experience! Go Figure.
